Biggest Bollywood Trends of 2012 – #2 Moustache

by / Wednesday, 06 March 2013 / Published in Uncategorized

We talked about Saree which was at No. 1 position in bollywood trends for 2012 and is going to stay for the year 2013 as well. Another trend which turned into an epidemic in 2012 was Moustache. If we start mentioning each and every movie  released last year where the actor was sporting a Moustache, this post will never end.

However we will take you through few of the most trendiest Staches of past year.

Year 2012 started with Hrithik Roshan sporting a stubble in Agneepath which was followed by Irrfan Khan as Paan Singh Tomar.

Then came Agent Vinod, Saif Ali Khan knew since beginning that this movie isn’t going to work so he did his best to make the movie run to some extent by shooting at exotic locations and his looks. Agent Vinod was given more of a James Bond look with Tux and Hollywood Style beard.  We think, movie would have done better if it would been named as Agent Vin 😛

The newbie Arjun Kapoor made his debut in Ishaqzaade. Though he sports a Tache and stubble off-screen as well, he opted for a pencil Tache in the movie to play first a good for nothing character to becoming a ‘man’ in the second half.

Mid of year was when the trend really kicked off, Akshay Kumar came with a warning “Don’t Angry Me” in Rowdy Rathore, playing a double role with a Stalin Mo. Followed by a whole gang of class actors in Gangs of Wasseypur enacting the local people of Dhanbad & Wasseypur. Manoj Bajpai sported a classic Chevron Moustache as Sardar Khan which was followed by his on-screen son Faizal Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).

We loved Ajay Devgan’s Ringo Star Moustache in Bol Bachchan, and Abhishek Bachchan on and off appereances with a similar but slimmer Mo version. Ajay sported Moustache and a beard look for his movie Son of Sardar playing a character of Sardar. In the same movie, Sanjay Dutt was seen in the Ringo Star Tache!

End of the year is when the 3 Khans rocked bollywood in there unique Moustaches. First in the league was King of Bollwyood, Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Though first part of his character was a clean shaven charming boy, the second part was where King Khan complimented his role of a Major in Indian Army Bomb Disposal Squad in Short Boxed Beard. Though George Clooney had already made it a trend worldwide, SRK made it an instant hit in India and among his fans worldwide.

Later came the perfectionist Khan, in the movie Talaash. Aamir Khan was seen in Horseshoe shaped Stache in the movie as a Cop of Mumbai Police Division. We saw many fans instantly following his footsteps and sporting a similar look.

Year was closed with a Bang by none other than Robin Hood Pandey aka Chulbul Pandey aka Salman Khan with a sequel of of Dabangg i.e. Dabangg 2. He maintained his prequel avatar in a Pencil Moustache and was loved by all his fans.

This is not it, we are already witnessing leading actors continuing with Moustache in the year 2013 for example Akshay Kumar in Special 26, Imran Khan in Matru ki Bijli Ka Mandola, Sanjay Dutt, Vievk Oberoi and Arshad Warsi in Zila Ghaziabad. Some of the most awaited movies of 2013, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, Shoot Out at Wadala, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2 etc have their leading actors sporting a Tache!

So if you haven’t grown your Mo yet, you still have the entire 2013 to do so. If you are confused which Moustache Style will suit you the best, you can get in touch with us at contact@bposh.in and our Image Consultants will be more than happy to help you.

And all of you who have already tried a Moustache last year, we would love to know which look you’ve tried.

Go Mo Mo! 🙂
